METHOD FOR EVALUATING LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY OF BRIDGE

A method for evaluating load carrying capacity of a bridge is provided to reduce time and costs for installing a measuring instrument by installing an accelerometer to calculate the load carrying capacity. An accelerometer is installed on a bridge, and an acceleration signal is measured from the accelerometer. Mode coefficient of the bridge is calculated through test mode interpretation from the measured acceleration signal. A finite element analysis model of the bridge is improved by using the mode coefficient. Deflection correction coefficient is obtained from the finite element analysis model. An acceleration signal is extracted when passing vehicles. Displacement is calculated by performing the double integral the extracted acceleration signal. Shock correction coefficient is obtained by using the displacement. The load carrying capacity is calculated by using the deflection correction coefficient and the shock correction coefficient.
