PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit in which a plurality of point light source circuit boards are electrically connected to each other with a simple structure.

SOLUTION: The backlight unit includes: the plurality of the point light source circuit boards 50 having power supply wirings 53 connected to a power supply and pads 52 connected to the power supply wirings formed on circuit board bodies; point light sources mounted on the plurality of the point light source circuit boards, respectively, and connected to the power supply through the power supply wirings; and metal members for connecting the pads of the adjacent point light source circuit boards among the plurality of the point light source circuit boards to each other.
