<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mullite refractory which, when used in firing, shows reduced dimensional change upon being fired and excellent mechanical strengths and is therefore desirable as a material for firing tools for electronic components. <P>SOLUTION: The mullite refractory is one having a porosity of 20% or higher and a percentage dimensional change (upon being fired) of ±1% and prepared by firing a raw material containing 74-85 wt.% alumina particles of an average particle diameter of 1-10 μm and 15-26 wt.% amorphous silica particles of an average particle diameter of 10-200 μm or crystalline silica particles of an average particle diameter of 5-50 μm into a fired material free from residual silica particles. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
