PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device that can start at a shorter time, and capable of reading data by adjusting a tilt angle by roughly 90°, irrespective of the disk quality. SOLUTION: The optical disk device, equipped with an optical pickup 1 for applying a laser beam L1 to the recording surface of an optical disk 5 and receiving a reflected beam L1, reflected on the recording surface, to read data and configured to adjust the tilt angle of the optical axis of the optical pickup 1, with respect to the recording surface roughly to 90°based on the amount of the received reflected beam, includes a moving means for moving, when data is read, the optical pickup so as to be within a diameter direction predetermined length from the recorded place of the data and to receive a reflected beam reflected on the data recorded place, and a tilt angle adjusting means for adjusting the tilt angle, based on the amount of the reflected beam received by the optical pickup 1.
