PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector to or from which a light source unit is attached or detached, wherein deterioration in cooling capacity for a light source is restrained and a size reduction is easy. SOLUTION: In the projector, the light source unit 1 attachable to or detachable from a housing has an aperture 14 in one side face thereof, and has a lid 2 for uncovering or covering the aperture 14 by moving a plate-like member 21 along an external face. The plate-like member 21 is pressed by a spring 23 in the direction in which the opening 14 is covered. When the light source unit 1 is attached to the housing of the projector, the contact part of the housing comes into contact with a projection 22 which is linked with the plate-like member 21. Consequently, the plate-like member 21 moves to open the aperture 14. As a result, current of cooling air flows into the light source unit 1, thereby cooling the unit 1. Since the plate-like member 21 moves along the external face of the light source unit 1, a lid part 2 does not occupy extra space even while the aperture 14 is opened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
