PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for readily and efficiently producing anω-bromo long-chain carboxylic acid by using an inexpensive and easily available raw material. SOLUTION: The method for producing theω-bromo long-chain carboxylic acid represented by formula (2) (wherein, n is an integer of 12-16) involves reacting a macrocyclic ester represented by general formula (1) (wherein, n is the same as the above) with hydrogen bromide in acetic acid solvent in a closed system.
