PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train controller suitable for controlling the stop position of a train to this side of a railroad crossing or to a predetermined stop position. SOLUTION: Opening/closing information of a railroad crossing is set in a ground unit which transmits a signal consisting of the circuit number of its track, the circuit number of stopping track and the opening/closing state of a railroad crossing to a train controller through a track circuit. A stop pattern in case of open railroad crossing and a stop pattern in case of closed railroad crossing are stored as a database in the memory of a train controller on the vehicle, and the train controller performs speed control of a train by a signal received from the ground unit with reference to a stop pattern corresponding to the opening/closing information of a railroad crossing.
