PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer for a measuring instrument capable of making visual recognition of displaying design of three dimensional feeling. SOLUTION: The pointer comprises: a longitudinally extending pointer part 41; and a pointer cap 42 covering the center part R of the pointer part 41. The pointer cap 42 comprises: a base part 42b positioned just upon the rotation center R of the pointer 41 provided with: a through hole 42a corresponding to the rotation center R of the pointer part 41; and a covering member 9 arranged at the base part 42b so as to close the through hole 42a. The covering member 9 comprises: a base plate 91 of light transparent material; a ground colored part 93 which is formed on the rear face of a base plate 91 and viewed in the approximately same color as the base part 42b by the light incident from the front of the pointer cap 42 side; a reflection part 94 formed on the rear side of the base plate 91 excepting a ground color part 93 and a punched edge 95 reflecting light incident from the front of the pointer cap 42 side; and a protruding parts 97 protruding the base plate 91 to the surface side of the base plate 91 part corresponding to the punched edges 95.
