PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately carry out later treatments against a glass substrate after dividing while facilitating control of suitability such as straightness, squareness or the like when dividing a large rectangular glass substrate to which predetermined treatments have been applied into a plurality of small rectangular glass substrates. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a glass substrate comprises applying predetermined treatments Sa-Sf to a rectangular glass substrate 1 that is positioned and supported at a plurality of supporting points A1-A3 before dividing, then dividing the glass substrate 1 into a plurality of rectangular glass substrates, and applying predetermined later treatments to the divided glass substrates that are positioned and supported at a plurality of supporting points after dividing, wherein the control of suitability is made only at points B1-B4 that will become supporting points after dividing on the divided glass substrates against the long side 2 and/or the short side 3 on the glass substrate 1 before dividing that is in the positioned and supported state.
