PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car of an elevator with adjusting weights for counterbalancing the sum of the changed mass of the car and the mass of peripheral equipment before/after reforming or changing the car and in addition before/after replacing the peripheral equipment to keep the sum of the mass of the car and the mass of the peripheral equipment constant. SOLUTION: The car 5 of the elevator 1 comprises a car frame 7, a cage 6 supported and fixed onto the car frame 7, adjusting weight mounting parts 33a, 33b formed on at least part of the cage 6 or the car frame 7, and adjusting weights 36a, 36b detachably mounted on the adjusting weight mounting parts 33a, 33b.
