A wireless system and a method of wireless communication are described. At least one beacon period in at least one rendezvous channel is provided. The method comprises determining a communications channel for use as a rendezvous channel RC during a beacon period; transmitting an identity of the RC and the beacon period to at least one wireless station STA of the network, wherein the STA includes a single radio transceiver; and during the beacon period and in the RC, exchanging beacons to negotiate communications after the beacon period.
