The present invention relates to a method for reducing boron concentration in a process of desalination of high salinity liquid comprising: passing said high salinity liquid through a first pass reverse osmosis (RO) device (110) to produce a first pass front (114) and rear (116) permeate, wherein at least part of said first pass rear permeate is treated with a scale inhibitor to obtain a modified first pass permeate (126) being fed into at least one additional RO device (132, 134, 136) to produce at least additional pass permeate, wherein said at least one additional pass permeate (139, 141, 143) comprises a lower boron concentration than that in the high salinity liquid.
