An A. C. mains adaptor (4) delivers a low voltage current to a rechargable battery (5) which is connected to a transducer (6), which operates a circuit breaker (7) when activated by a signal from a modified remote control handset, disconnecting the mains electricity supply from the appliance. A further signal from the handset reverses the circuit breaker and reconnects the mains electricity supply. The apparatus may be directly wired to, or incorporated within the appliance. |
