<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for securing a reset discharge and an elimination discharge without being accompanied by fall-off of contrast, and attaining a stable address discharge, in a plasma display panel. <P>SOLUTION: A method for driving a plasma display panel which has a reset period, an address period, and a sustain discharge period includes, in the reset period; a step for applying a 1st pulse Vwy increasing in an applied voltage value with time to a 2nd electrode Yn (n=1, 2, ...), applying a pulse -Vwx to a 1st electrode Xn (N=1, 2, ...), and generating a 1st discharge between the 1st and 2nd electrodes; and a step for applying a 2nd pulse -Vey decreasing in the applied voltage value with time to the 2nd electrode, and generating a 2nd discharge between the 1st and 2nd electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
