PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which color registration performance is ensured by improving accuracy in front and back image position even when an image adjustment and inclination adjustment are made first and then color matching in color registration adjustment is made, as a color image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The inclination adjustment mechanism of a scanning optical device corresponding to a reference color is operated with part of an operable range as the maximum operable range of the image inclination adjustment, and is operated as color registration adjustment in which the rest part is made to match image inclination with the reference color.
