PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image of good quality free from an image defect by press-contacting a pressure roller with a developing roller in proper timing. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is disclosed in which, a motor is reversed to press a heating member and a pressure member (pressure roller 64) against each other, and then rotated forward to drive the heating member and pressure member so that after printing is instructed, a recording medium reaches a nip part after the heating member makes one or more rotations.
