CAR NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND DISPLAYING METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable instantaneous understanding of a traffic congestion condition and a difference in speed in a road section by providing an interface with high visibility even in a limited display screen in a displaying method in a car navigation system. SOLUTION: The car navigation system acquires the present location of one's own vehicle from a sensor; receives traffic information from the outside of the vehicle by radio communication; and creates a traffic volume and a vehicle passing speed every road section based on the received traffic information. A traffic condition on each road is depicted by a point-sequence on a road; a unit traveling rate of a point-sequence in response to a unit traveling rate based on point-sequence density and a vehicle passing speed in response to a traffic volume every road section are determined in a map image; a degree of congestion by a traffic volume is depicted by a point-sequence; and a vehicle passing speed is depicted figuratively by a moving speed of the point sequence of animation in which a point-sequence moves.
