PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition timing control device for an internal combustion engine making a spark plug surely ignite to discharge and avoiding misfire even under high pressure condition due to increase of compression ratio and supercharging. SOLUTION: The ignition timing control device 2 installed on the internal combustion engine 1 calculates a demand voltage value from intake air quantity, intake valve closure angle correction value determined based on intake valve close angle, and ignition timing correction value determined based on ignition timing by ECU 10. The demand voltage value is compared with a feedable voltage value which is an upper limit of discharge capacity of a spark plug 8. If the demand voltage value is higher than the feedable voltage value, a step for advancing ignition timing, a step for retarding intake valve closure angle (valve close timing) and a step for reducing intake air quantity are executed to reduce cylinder pressure.
