<p>A portable electronic device is provided with a display section (ELD); a first sensor element group (G1) having a plurality of sensor elements (L1-L4), which adjoin the display section by being continuously arranged along the periphery of the display section and detect contact; a switch element arranged in an area where the first sensor element group is arranged; and a control section, which controls the display section to display a plurality of selection candidate items which can be displayed as areas to be operated, monitors the detection status change of the first sensor element group and the status of the switch element, changes the selection status of the selection candidate item by changing the selection candidate item and/or the area to be operated, based on the detection status change of the first sensor element group, and controls the device to execute the selection candidate items being selected when the switch element is depressed.</p> |
