摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller capable of enhancing bearing functions. SOLUTION: Microscopic indentations are provided in the surface of the roller 11. The surface roughness parameter Ryni of the surface provided with the indentations is in the range of 0.4 to 1.0μm. A full crowning provided on the outside diameter surface 13 of the roller 11 includes a first crowning 14a, a second crowning 14b and a third crowning 14c. If the length of the roller 11 along the direction of its axis of rolling is not more than twice the radial length of the roller 11, the radius R1 of curvature of the first crowning 14a in a position that is 32% of its length away from the end face 12a of the roller 11 along the axis of rolling is R551 to R1000. The radius R2 of curvature of the second crowning 14b in a position that is 23% of its length away from the end face 12a of the roller 11 along the axis of rolling is R321 to R550. The radius R3 of curvature of the third crowning 14c in a position that is 15% of its length away from the end face 12a of the roller 11 along the axis of rolling is R200 to R320.
