PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To curtail the number of pixels by mixture of the pixel signals in a vertical direction no matter what type of electrode structure a vertical last stage has. SOLUTION: This device comprises a photoelectrical converter 2 arranged two-dimensionally, a reader 3 for selectively reading signal charges of a plurality of photoelectrical converters, a vertical forwarder 4 of a plurality of columns arranged corresponding to each column of the plurality of photoelectrical converters in order to forward the signal charges read by the reader to the vertical direction, and a horizontal forwarder 5 for forwarding the signal charges received from the vertical forwarder of the plurality of columns to a horizontal direction. A forwarding electrode constitutes a second vertical final stage 4g which is a vertical forwarding stage second close to the horizontal forwarder in a vertical forwarding path, and contains at least two independent electrodes V3L, V5L independent of a plurality of common electrodes of the other vertical forwarding stages.
