PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid bearing device capable of accurately and freely controlling the porosity of a sintered bearing sleeve to thereby exhibit high bearing performance, and being reducible size. SOLUTION: A bearing member 8 formed of a sintered metal is formed by integrating a first area 81 and a second area 82 which are composed of powder having different particle sizes. The porosity of the first area 81 is higher than that of the second area 82, and a radial bearing surface forming a radial bearing clearance described below with a shaft 31 is formed on the inside surface 83 of the first area 81. The integration of the first area 81 and the second area 82 is performed by molding a first compact 11 corresponding to the first area 81 and a second compact 12 corresponding to the second area 82 by powder compacting, respectively, and sintering them in a combined state.
