PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hysteresis type damper of excellent stability, capable of exhibiting sufficient resistance force against deformation. SOLUTION: This hysteresis type damper 1 has a pair of damper members 5a, 5b provided opposedly each other. The damper member 5a has structure with a plate-like member bent into a convex shape, and has straight parts 9a, 9b in both ends. The straight parts 9a, 9b are fixed to H-shape steels 3a, 3b. Bent parts 11a, 11b are provided in the straight parts 9a, 9b, and a straight part 13a is provided in the bent parts 11a, 11b. Structure of the damper member 5b is same to that of the damper member 5a. Spacers 7a, 7b are provided between the straight part 13a and a straight part 13b, and a one-side end part of the spacer 7a is fixed to the straight parts 13a, 13b by nuts 15a, 15b.
