PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition exerting excellent detergent effect and stain-releasing effect on a textile product in a single treatment. SOLUTION: The detergent composition contains a macromolecular compound composed of (A) an unsaturated amine salt such as diallyl methylamine hydrochloride, (B) a structural unit such as sulfur dioxide and (C) an unsaturated carboxylic acid such as undecenoic acid. This detergent composition is such that the alkali buffering capacity of its aqueous solution(1 g/L concentration) at 25°C(the amount of 0.1 N hydrochloric acid necessary for bringing the pH of the aqueous solution at 25°C to 9.5 or lower) is 5 mL or less.
