PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device having relatively simple construction for stably detecting the speed and position of a moving body. SOLUTION: On the surface of a guide rail 0102 for guiding the moving body such as a car or a counterweight in an elevator shaft, a plurality of first conductor parts 0113 and a plurality of second conductor parts 0114 different in electromagnetic property are alternately arranged side by side in the longitudinal direction of the guide rail. In the moving body, an eddy current sensor 0101 is provided to be opposed to the first and second conductor parts. When the moving body is elevated up or down, the eddy current sensor alternately detects the first conductor parts and the second conductor parts and a signal processor detects the position or speed of the moving body with an output signal from the eddy current sensor at this time.
