A method for setting a system language using language recognition is provided to easily set the language of a karaoke system and to increase convenience of a user by recognizing user's native language, such as a greeting, and setting the language as the system language. A sound signal inputted from the outside through a microphone is converted into sound data(S11). The converted sound data is compared with stored sound data of various languages(S12). The sound data of one language with high similarity is selected after the comparison, and then the language is set as a system language(S14).
