<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data correction method capable of precisely correcting a difference in toner concentration between the axial positions of an image carrier with less toner consumption. <P>SOLUTION: On the image carrier having a cylindrical surface, a first patch image 100 is formed as a toner image along the axial direction X of the image carrier, the first patch image 100 being such that linear parts 101 extending in the circumferential direction Y of the image carrier are interspatially arranged in the axial direction X of the image carrier. The density of the first patch image 100 formed or that of a first print patch image 100a obtained by transferring this patch 100 to recording paper is detected in a plurality of positions in the axial direction X of the image carrier. Based on the relations of the detected density and the positions where the densities are detected, the gradation value of each pixel of image data is corrected according to the position of the image carrier in the axial direction X so that the toner images corresponding to the pixels represented by the same gradation values in the image data have the same density. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
