[Also in Group XXII] A method of producing a unitary component, for use in an electrical switching circuit and comprising a number of electrically-conductive bodies separated from one another by insulating material, comprises placing a number of bodies of conducting material in contact with one another so as to be partially separated from one another by extension pieces on one or more of the bodies, casting insulating material in position so as to fill the spaces between adjacent bodies and removing parts of the bodies which include the extension pieces to leave the conductive bodies insulated from one another. Three conductive bodies 10 are stacked together so that a shoulder 16 on each body contacts an adjacent body. Each body 10 is formed with interstices 14 which extend partially through the body to form wedge-shaped elements 20 partially separated from a single disc-like element 22. The stack is inserted into a cylindrical container 12 and molten phenolic resin insulating material is poured therein. After hardening the assembly is removed from the container 12 and a central hole is drilled to remove a central core of resin. The assembly is then placed on a lathe and the outer surface, including the shoulders 16 and the bridging pieces between the elements 20 and 22, is removed to give the article shown in Fig. 3, and comprising disc-like conductors 22 separated from each of a number of wedge elements 20 by a solid insulating material 24. Holes 18 in the bodies 10 are also filled with insulating material to assist in positioning the elements 20. Wires may be soldered to the segments 20, 22 or terminal lugs may be left thereon when removing the outer surface. Bridging arrange. ments are inserted within or without the completed assembly.
