<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a folder management system of documents as required, and retrieve and display documents by classifying key values stored in document attribute items into folder hierarchy images and displaying them according to a display format in a method for searching and displaying documents in a document management system. <P>SOLUTION: In the document management system, a database management server and a display terminal are connected through a network, and a database stored in the database management server is displayed on the display terminal through a Web server. The database management server has a means for creating a management folder, and a means for retrieving key values stored in attribute items of documents that are registered in a first folder according to attribute information on the management folder under the management folder and displaying them as a second folder structure.
