PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indoor unit of an air conditioner capable of simplifying the structure of an air filter cleaning device, reducing the dimension and costs of the air filter cleaning device, and preventing accumulation of dust in an exhaust fan and a dust discharging flow channel. SOLUTION: The indoor unit of this air conditioner comprises a cleaning unit having a dust removing portion comprising a dust removing member disposed movably on a surface of an air filter for removing the dust of the air filter, and a dust receiving portion, and an exhaust unit properly communicated with the cleaning unit and having an exhaust fan and an exhaust duct for discharging the dust collected in the cleaning unit to the outside of the machine. The exhaust unit is constituted to connect the exhaust fan to the dust receiving portion when it is communicated with the cleaning unit, to discharge the dust collected in the dust receiving portion to the outside of the machine through the exhaust duct with the air sent to the dust receiving portion from the exhaust fan, and an opening area of an air intake port of the dust receiving portion is larger than an opening area of an air discharge port of the exhaust fan.
