PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that avoids a problem such that an unfixed visible image is disturbed due to rubbing of the image against a guide plate or the like, and can further reduce a heat loss amount of a transfer/fixing apparatus 20 as compared with the former transfer/fixing apparatus. SOLUTION: A transfer fixing roller 21, a halogen lamp 22, a reflecting plate 23 and a pressurizing roller 24 are covered with a casing 28 having a surface-exposing opening 28a for exposing one portion of the surface of the transfer fixing roller 21 to oppose to an intermediate transfer belt, a receiving opening 28b for receiving transfer paper P fed from the outside and guiding it to a transfer fixing nip, and a discharging opening 28c for discharging the transfer paper P discharged from the transfer fixing nip to the outside. Furthermore, the receiving opening 28b is shut by bringing a first guide plate 26 and a second guide plate 27 into contact with each other, the first guide plate 26 having end on the opening side cantilevered at the periphery part of the opening between the receiving opening 28b and the transfer fixing nip, the second guide plate 27 being fixed at the periphery part of the opening so as to face the first guide plate 26.
