PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head which can suppress power consumption by improving a heating efficiency of a heating resistor, has a substrate below the lower part of the heating resistor of which the strength is improved, and can be readily manufactured at low cost, and to provide a method for manufacturing the thermal head and a thermal printer. SOLUTION: A plurality of heating resistors 4 are arranged on an insulation film 3 laminated on a support substrate 2 at intervals and wires 5 for supplying power are connected to the heating resistors 4, respectively. A through-hole 9 passing through the support substrate 2 in the depth direction is provided to a region on the support substrate 2 covered by each of the heating resistors 4, and a thin part 10 having the thickness smaller than the periphery hereof is provided to a region on the insulation film 3 covered by each of the heating resistors 4.
