PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking training apparatus and a control method of the walking training apparatus capable of giving a comprehensive walking training according to the physical conditions of a trainee without using two or more walking training apparatuses. SOLUTION: This walking training apparatus measures a regular walking speed of a trainee by a walking speed measuring process, measures a loading torque (a step) of an annular belt selected by the trainee, executes first and second (training) processes with the rotating speed and the loading torque of the annular belt changed based on the regular walking speed and the loading torque (the step), and executes a third (training) process changing the deceleration rate of the annular belt under rotating at a random time interval so as to give the walking training and a tumbling prevention training according to the physical conditions of the trainee.
