The device has a sensor detecting optical, magnetic or electrical characteristics of the flat structure (2), that converts the detected characteristics into a measuring signal. A mechanism determines a signal threshold value, and a signaling device (5) emits an optical and/or acoustic signal, if a change of the measuring signal takes place by the threshold value. The signaling devices has a lighting device and/or a loudspeaker. The measuring device (100) comprises a display (6) for the rendition of the threshold value and the measuring signal.
