A method for controlling the operation of a food storage apparatus is provided to allow a compressor to be operated after initializing a step valve and then stopping the compressor, if the temperature of a storage room does not reach the range of control temperature within a fixed time. In a food storage apparatus having a plurality of storage rooms connected to a plurality of step valves through which refrigerant is optionally supplied to one storage room, a method for controlling the operation of the food storage apparatus comprises the steps of: (a) judging the operation condition of a compressor according to the control temperature of the plurality of storage rooms to operate the compressor, and applying step pluses to the step valve to supply refrigerant to one storage room; (b) judging the operation condition of the compressor while measuring the temperature of the storage room for a fixed time; and (c) stopping the compressor if the operation condition of the compressor is continuously judged even after the fixed time, and then initializing the step valve. |
