A temperature detector for monitoring a high voltage switch is provided to reduce labor and time for installation by more promptly determining a position of the temperature detector with a laser. A temperature detector for monitoring a high voltage switch includes a case, a radiant energy measuring sensor(40), a laser pointer(50), and a substrate(30). The case has a front case(12) and a rear case(14). The front case has a sensor groove and a laser passing groove. The rear case is mounted to the front case detachably. The radiant energy measuring sensor is installed inside the case to detect radiant energy entering through the sensor groove. The laser pointer is installed inside the case to project a laser through the laser passing groove. The substrate is installed inside the case and has an electronic circuit for receiving information on radiant energy detected in the radiant energy measuring sensor and converting the information into temperature information.
