A method for driving a plasma display apparatus is provided to prevent the deterioration of gray scale by allocating sustain discharge pulses to respective sub-fields according to the weighted value of sub-fields. A screen load rate is calculated based on plural image signals inputted during one frame(S810). Total numbers of sustain discharge pulses during one frame are determined according to the calculated screen load rate(S820). The weighted values of plural sub-fields are changed to adjust the number of the bits of output gray scale represented by compositing the weighted values according to the total numbers of the sustain discharge pulses(S830). The total numbers of the sustain discharge pulses are allocated to respective sub-fields according to the changed weighted values of plural sub-fields(S840). |
