A vehicle data transmission system (1) having a first data bus (2), and a number of electronic central control units (3) connected to the first data bus (2) to communicate with one another; the data transmission system (1) having a second data bus (4); and electronic switching circuits (5) for selectively connecting the electronic central control units (3) to the second data bus (4), upon a malfunctioning of the first data bus (2) being detected.
