A method for producing a self-assembled monolayer comprising mixed alkanethiols is provided to facilitate access of an external substance thereto by minimizing steric hindrance between reactive terminal functional groups, and to maximize fixing efficiency of a functional substance. A method for producing a self-assembled monolayer comprising mixed alkanethiols comprises the steps of: preparing a composition containing heterogeneous alkanethiol molecules having different backbone lengths in a desired molar ratio to provide a solution; dissolving the solution into an ethanol-containing solvent; dipping a film into the mixed solution; and washing the film and removing the remaining molecules not bonded to the film.
