A tilt type steering column for a vehicle is provided to easily control a tilt amount during a tilt operation by forming an upper bracket on a tilt bracket and forming an extension part having an adjustment member on a column housing to serve as a tilt stopper. A tilt type steering column for a vehicle comprises a column housing(210), an adjustment member(220) and a tilt bracket(250). The column housing covers a steering shaft and is formed with an extension part(230) formed upward. The adjustment member is coupled to the extension part to adjust a tilt amount and prevent excessive tilt-up. The tilt bracket is coupled to two sides of the column housing through a hinge bolt(260) and has an upper bracket(240), which protrudes from an upper part of the tilt bracket and is in contact with the adjustment member during a tilt operation.
