A method for preventing in-vitro oxidation of proteins caused by cigarette smoke is provided to isolate major harmful oxidants involved in oxidative damage of biopolymers such as proteins and DNA from an aqueous extract of cigarette smoke/tar. A method for preventing in-vitro oxidation of proteins caused by cigarette smoke includes a step of suppressing oxidation of bovine serum albumin(BSA) by using a chemical compound or medicinal herb. The chemical compound is selected from the group consisting of ascorbic acid, sodium dithionite, tartaric acid, citric acid, oxalic acid, succinic acid, histidine, lysine, thiourea, glutathione, red tea extracts, green tea extracts, catechin, epigallocatechin, and epicatechin.
|
