A method for checking melting damages of sliding nozzle plates is provided to accurately grasp exchange time of the sliding nozzle plates by checking the melting damage extent of specific portions of inner parts of the sliding nozzle plates, and easily check the melting damages by blocking separation of the insert ring when an insert ring is used, thereby preventing interference of a separated insert ring. A method for checking melting damages of sliding nozzle plates comprises the steps of: tilting a ladle(1) as much as a set angle; ejecting high pressure air into a top nozzle(6) of the ladle to pass the high pressure oxygen through the top nozzle; ejecting high pressure air into a collector nozzle(3) to pass the high pressure oxygen through the collector nozzle after allowing molten steel passages of upper and lower sliding nozzle plates(4,5) to be essentially on a straight line; and placing a reflection mirror(22) of a melting damage observation port(20) on melting damage parts of the sliding nozzle plates to check the melting damage state through an image focused by the reflection of the reflection mirror.
