METHOD OF DRIVING PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL

A method for driving a plasma display panel is provided to improve the linearity of brightness by preventing the reverse of gray scales according to the improvement of the saturation of brightness. The number of sustain discharge pulses are provided based on the load rate of input image signals. At the time, the number of sustain discharge pulses of respective frames in inverse proportion to respective load rates of the input image signals are obtained. Then, the number of sustain discharge pulses of respective sub-fields are obtained using the number of sustain discharge pulses of respective frames and weighted values of the respective sub-fields. First and second voltages are supplied to first and second electrodes as much as the number of sustain discharge pulses during a sustain period. A rising interval(ERC T) from the first voltage to the second voltage is in inverse proportion to the number of sustain discharge pulses. When the number of sustain discharge pulses of respective sub-fields are below predetermined numbers, the rising interval is constantly maintained at the sub-fields.
