A vacuum cleaner 10 has a cyclone separator assembly 12 including a frustoconical separator 18 and a dirt cup 54 associated with the separator. Large particles of dirt are separated from a working airstream as it flows through the cyclone separator assembly 12, and the separated large particles of dirt are deposited into the dirt cup 54. The cyclone 5 separator assembly further includes a fine particle separation member 110 comprising a plurality of apertures 112 for separating fine particles of dirt from air in the cyclone separator assembly 12 or the dirt cup 54, and deposits those in a fine contaminant collector 101.
