A waste receptacle for chewing gum comprises a shaped sleeve 2 open at both ends and a complementarily shaped insert 3 having an interference portion 24 for location of the insert within the sleeve. The insert has drainage apertures 25 at a base end 26 and an open top end with an edge profile to limit access to a desired size so that larger items than chewing gum, such as crisp packets, cannot readily be inserted. The sleeve may be formed by folding an elongate sheet so that its ends approach one another without meeting, forming an open-backed sleeve. The end portions 4 of the sheet may have keyhole-shaped apertures (30, Figures 3 and 4) for mounting of the sleeve on a wall. The insert may be of disposable material to which chewing gum will stick, and include lines of weakness so that the insert is deformed or weakened by removal from the sleeve. |
