The shelter construction 10, particularly for use as a field shelter for domesticated animals, comprises a number of panels 11-15 and a number of structural elements, each panel comprising a peripheral frame and a tensioned or pre-stressed skin. The skin preferably comprises a membrane or sheet formed of a plastic, a fibre-reinforced plastic or a fabric coated or surfaced with plastic. The skin is preferably secured to a panel frame by being passed about the frame under tension and having the overlapping portion stitched to the main body of the skin by two lines of stitching. One or more panels may include leg portions and the edges of adjacent panels may be joined by channel sections which receive side portions of the panels. Panels may be provided with windows 19 formed from transparent plastic material. |
