774,705. Electromagnetic switches; switchbboards. ELECTRIC CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd. July 15, 1955 [Aug: 3, 1954], No. 22533/54. Class 38(5) The several components of contactors are separately mounted on a pair of horizontal bars 6, 7 secured at each end to a pair of strips 20. Each pair of bars 6, 7 may support a number of contactors and a number of pairs of bars may be provided. As shown, each contactor comprises main contacts 2...4, auxiliary contacts 5, and an electromagnet 1; the bars 6, 7 comprising angle section members. Each of the main contacts is carried by an insulating base 12, Fig. 2, recessed to receive the bars and fixed thereto by a screw 14 entering an insert 15 in the base, the screw 14 passing through a plate 16 having turned-over sides 17 embracing the bars. Inserts 30, 31, 35 support the terminals 32, 33 and fixed contact 34, respectively. The moving contacts 36 are carried by arms 39 rocked by a spindle 40 operated by an armature 72 the spindle ends being suported in bearings 75 fixed to the bars 6, 7 by bolts 76, tonques on the bearings extending between the bars to serve as spacers. Each main contact may have a blow-out coil 42 and arc shield 43. The auxiliary contacts 5 are similarly mounted on the bars by an insulating base (Fig. 4, not shown), the metal base of the electomagnet 1 being somewhat similarly mounted by a pair of screws passing through a pair of lugs bent out from the base and co-operating with nuts to clamp the lugs against the bars (Figs. 3, 6, not shown). The bars are fixed to the strips 20 by a pair of similar clamps 21 having three' pairs of tongues 22...24, the tongues 23 of the left-hand clamp (Fig. 5) spacing the bars 6, 7, whilst the tongues 22, 24 of this clamp engage the outer edges of the bars. The tongues of the right-hand clamp 21 embrace the strips 20, clamping being performed by a bolt 25 and nut 27, the plate 26 serving the same purpose as plate 16.
