<p>There is disclosed a system for managing energy consumption by equipment at a site, the system comprising: a database for storing characteristics data relating to energy-consuming equipment located at the site, and historical cost data relating to the energy consuming equipment; communication means for receiving current billing data relating to the equipment, the current billing data including a cost amount owed for energy consumption by the equipment; and processing means; wherein the characteristics data includes expected energy consumption for the equipment; the processing means is operable to process the current billing data using the characteristics data and the historical cost data to generate a payment request to enable payment of the cost amount owed; the communication means is operable to transmit the payment request; the processing means is further operable to process the characteristics data and the current billing data to generate operating instruction data relating to the equipment when current energy consumption of the equipment indicated by the current billing data is inconsistent with the expected energy consumption for the equipment, and the communication means is further operable to transmit the operating instruction data to the equipment, thereby enabling management of energy consumption by the equipment.</p> |
