A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce brightness saturation according to the frequency by applying negative auxiliary voltages during a sustain period. A plasma display apparatus includes first and second electrodes(Y,X), and third electrodes formed across the first and second electrodes. The distance between the first and second electrodes is greater than that between the first and third electrodes. In a sustain period, a first voltage(Vs) is applied to the first electrodes during a first interval. Then, after supplying a second voltage lower than the first voltage to the second electrodes, a third voltage(Vs1) lower than the second voltage is applied to the first voltage during a part of the first interval.
