A cartridge unit for an inkjet printer is provided. The cartridge unit has a body portion having one or more ink storage compartments, and a pagewidth printhead assembly which is mountable to the body. The printhead assembly is configured to receive ink from the compartment(s) and to distribute the ink along the length of the printhead assembly.
